Territory Mechanic

The Territory Mechanic is responsible for handling high volume of light to medium level mechanical work at dedicated auction branch locations within a specific territory. You will be responsible for vehicle repairs in a timely manner and be the eyes for the leadership to make recommendations and verify our business expectations are being met by the Auction team.

 

This role is best suited for a mechanical entrepreneur wanting professional and financial growth.  You will directly impact our results and operations with your skilled hands and operations knowledge.

What You’ll Do - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Auction Managers and District managers: Get to know branch managers and speak to them directly about repairs completed.
  • Make recommendations to your supervisor for operations and process improvements.
  • Manage parts ordering, reconciliation, and returns with national parts suppliers.
  • Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles.
  • 50% to 75% travel to designated auction branches
  • Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer.
  • Perform basic repairs to light and medium duty vehicles and bring to a minimal running status.
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
  • Maintain general upkeep and maintenance of Mobile Service Truck
  • Interact with auction managers through both email and in person as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What We’re Looking For – Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 5 years' experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school with 2+ plus years automotive mechanic experience
  • Must have valid Driver's License and automotive required insurance.
  • Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, and Email.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read reports, weather forecasts, and set plans accordingly to maximize your time and success.
  • Ability to place parts orders, maintain tracking and handle refunds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
  • Must have robust toolset & toolbox.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles.
  • Ability to work outside in various extreme temperature weather conditions.
  • Mobile Mechanic field experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
  • Ability to move and position heavy objects.
  • Potential for some overnight travel in the future.
