The Impounds Specialist is responsible for developing and managing customer relationships as well as with vendor management to help increase departmental profitability by following up via phone on Impound opportunities generated by various online entities.

What You’ll Do - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Successfully manage customer accounts, ensuring documents are received in a timely manner.
  • Handling of communication and interaction with impound companies that will assist in maximizing repossessions.
  • Daily updating of all repossession attempts provided by vendors and determining if additional steps (placement with ‘skip’ vendors) are necessary.
  • Ensure all legal notifications regarding repossessions and sales are properly communicated to members (including review of repossession letters for accuracy).
  • Handling any repo cancellation requests.
  • Review impound accounts for pick up and recovery of seized vehicle, following state and federal guidelines.
  • Conduct follow up with agents on accounts assigned for repossession/pick up as needed.
  • Authorize/track lien opposition for resolution.
  • Prevent lapses and clear up any inconsistencies with updates.
  • Assigns accounts to Repossession Company; involuntary, voluntary, abandoned and impounds.
  • Documents system and notifies all corresponding departments once vehicle has been secured.
  • Reviews accounts for payments or collection arrangements, placing an account on hold or closing request.
  • Ensures compliance with state laws regarding the right to cure (RTC), Strict Compliance Letter (SCL), Soldiers and Sailors Credit Protection (SSCRA), and any Bankruptcy protection requirements.
  • Processes vehicle reinstatements and/or redemptions.
  • Reviews repossession agency invoices, and posts to the AMW screen and forwards to manager for payment.
  • Handles impounded vehicles and secures their release.
  • This position involves regular access to specified personal information of consumers, including, but not limited to, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
  • Utilize guidelines accurately per established policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For – Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • 0-2 years’ experience in sales and customer service
  • 2-5 years repossession or auto collections experience is preferred
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Must be solutions oriented and use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  • Able to work in a team environment and be open to feedback.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work with integrity and handle confidential information.
  • Must have current experience with TLX Point of Sale application and Salesforce.
  • Sales-oriented mentality and a passion for great customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, rewarding, and results-driven environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
