Overview

Compliance Specialist

 

The Compliance Specialist will partner closely with Company leaders, providing compliance-based guidance and regulatory support. As a team, the BUCOs play a critical role in all business initiatives, vetting the development of new products and services, reviewing current and proposed business practices, suggesting business alternatives, and providing compliant solutions for business objectives and action items.  The BUCO team is comprised of subject matter experts who offer valuable feedback for processes, products, and services, and advocate as ambassadors of compliance throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with department leaders on both the front end (identifying and mitigating compliance risk) and the back end (remediating compliance action items – as determined by examinations, external and internal audits, monitoring, and complaint data).
  • Maintain positive working relationships while providing assessments on risks, recommending controls, and outlining compliance requirements.
  • Partner with the legal department to integrate compliance objectives into business initiatives.
  • Leverage compliance data to provide visibility and solutions to management for areas of compliance risk.
  • Stay apprised of industry enforcement actions, new or changing regulations, and other impactful publications.
  • Effectively and efficiently review, understand, and communicate compliance and regulatory requirements for executive consumption.
  • Take initiative and adapt to evolving roles, and lead special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in business administration or related field required.
  • 3+ years of industry related compliance experience.
  • Experience working with state and federal regulatory bodies is strongly preferred.
  • Collaborator with ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to consume and digest information and convey it clearly to management.
  • Ability to promptly recognize, explain, and solution compliance deficiencies.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, while managing and prioritizing a significant workload.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly-changing, deadline-intensive environment.
  • Some overnight travel and in-person interaction with colleagues across the country.
  • Ability to analyze and present quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows-based computers and computing software including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
